Parents,
We have a lot of important information below. Please read through carefully as we have some last minute changes that we have had to make. Also, in the next couple days please sign up for receiving text messages/app notifications (from Remind.com) so that we can get you the latest updates throughout camp week.
Remind Instructions:
Field Location Changes: As many of you have probably seen Kennedy Park is under construction this summer. Unfortunately, we can only use the field closest to Alderson St. Our plan is to move some of the camp over to the Greenheck-Turner Community Center (GTCC) indoor facility and the fields located directly behind the GTCC on school grounds. This will allow us to remain close enough where we can still utilize the pool during our lunch break. The plan is to have K-5th grade campers, with the exception of 5th grade girls, over at the GTCC and Everest School grounds. 6th-8th graders including 5th grade girls will be at Kennedy Park. We know this might be an inconvenience for those families with different age campers and having to drop off at two different spots but it will allow us maximum space for each age group.
Kennedy Park drop off/pick up can be done either in the parking lot next to skate park or on Neupert Avenue which is on the northern edge of the field closest to Target.
GTCC drop off and pick up should be at main entrance to GTCC (6400 Alderson St, Weston, WI 54476). We will have someone by the doors each morning until 8:15 directing kids to Field 2, which is where we will start. Feel free to park and walk your child in if you prefer. From there some groups will walk out the back doors onto the fields behind the building. Groups will rotate between inside and out so if you are picking your child up early at this location, you can come to Field 2 and we can direct you to where your child is at. The other option is to use the remind app and we can make sure your child is ready at the front doors at a certain time. At the end of the day at 4pm, all campers will be in the GTCC and exit out the main doors. Half day campers coming at 1pm should enter the main doors and we will have someone there helping direct campers to Field 2 to start the afternoon session.
Lunch Plan....The GTCC campers will exit the north side of the building at 10:45am and walk to the crosswalk at Jelinek Avenue. We will be walking as a group and coaches will stop traffic to get all the kids safely to the other side of the road. From there, we will cross the bridge to the shelter/playground area and eat lunch together with the Kennedy Park campers. At 11:25, we will walk around the big dirt piles as a group and arrive at the pool 11:30.
Pool Plan...On Monday at 11:30, pool staff will meet us outside and talk with the campers about pool rules. All campers 7 years and younger will automatically get red wristbands and be required to stay in the shallow areas of the pool. 8 years and older campers are allowed to try and pass a swim test to go in the deep end. If they pass, they will be given a green wrist band. Ideally, they just keep this wrist band on for the week but we will keep track of who passes the test and have extra green wrist bands if they need to take it off at night. If you have a child over 8 years old who you don't want testing to go in the deep end, please let us know. Or if you want your child in a life jacket, please let us know. We know there can be anxiety with the pool setting so parents are welcome to come and watch their child swim. If you tell the front desk you are with the soccer camp, they will let you in. You don't need to pay unless you are looking to swim with your child. At 12:35, we will exit the pool and start walking back to our soccer areas as a group. We have plenty of high school helpers along with lead camp coaches that will be helping campers in the locker areas if they need help. We can also help apply sunscreen, if needed, and remind campers to reapply especially after the pool.
Bad Weather Plan...If lightning is approaching the area all Kennedy Park campers will walk over to the GTCC as a group. All outside campers behind the GTCC will also move indoors. Most likely we would rent an additional field or two at that time and continue with soccer.
